Based in Lykens, PA, Iroquois Confederacy formed in late August 2006. After a few months of writing, we took our beer drinkin' guitar grindin' music to the masses and have had great success everywhere we've been fortunate enough to perform. From the very beginning we set out to write music that anyone listen to. Music that people can identify with and most importantly feel. We are happy to say we are acheiving that goal. Our wide range of rock, blues, and even metal influences and experience have congealed over the past 2 years and has resulted in what is an appealing, driving sound unlike what the listener is accustomed to, yet feels familiar.
All of the musicians in Iroquois Confederacy are originally from the Wiconisco Valley (now known by most as the Lykens Valley). The area in which we live was first settled by Andrew Lycons in 1750. Unfortunately for him in accordance with the Iroquois Confederacy treaties the Governor of Pennsylvania had to have him forceably removed and all of his cabins burned down. If you don't realize how serious the IC was, look up their Constitution. Nothing left to chance.
While our music admittedly has virtually nothing to do with American Indian folklore or history, we chose to adopt the name in order to inject a bit of a history lesson and draw some attention to a nearly forgotten part of Amerca's past. As a band we prefer to focus on a realistic and sometimes humorous view of life.
Our first full CD release was recorded during 2008 at our own studio here in Lykens, PA. We hope you find The Left Handed Peace Pipe as fun and entertaining to listen to as the times we had making it.
Peace!
IC
